Classic S3/5R
For over two decades Spendor was licensed to manufacture the legendary LS3/5a BBC mini-monitor loudspeaker. It became an international reference standard. In 1998 when Spendor learned that manufacture of the LS3/5a drive units was to cease, we decided to develop our own 140mm (5inch) bass-midrange drive unit using modern materials and technology. Combining this with a small 20mm soft dome tweeter, new crossover engineering and a more up-to-date look we created the Spendor S3/5. Many discerning listeners consider it to be the most transparent and truly musical mini-loudspeaker they have ever heard and the S3/5 has won many awards. The latest 'R' type continues to improve this popular classic loudspeaker

A5 and A6

The Spendor A5 offers exceptional performance in relation to its compact dimensions. New drive units based on technology developed for the recently launched Spendor SA1 ensure clear and natural mid-range and beautifully open treble.

The A6 utilises technology developed whilst developing the Spendor ST loudspeaker with its asymmetrically sculptured tweeter faceplate and refined 18cm bass/mid driver.

The new 15cm and 18cm drive units have a magnesium alloy chassis to support the long throw motor systems which helps to give these loudspeakers a remarkably big and powerful sound. The 22mm and 29mm wide-surround tweeters complete the driver array. The linear flow reflex port allows the A5 and A6 to be placed in relative close proximity to rear walls with minimal interaction.

A meticulously refined crossover network with hi-grade electrical components and gold plated conductors integrates the drivers seamlessly. Internal cables are silver plated pure copper with halogen free dielectric. Single wiring to your amplifier via a pair of WBT binding posts ensures uncompromised performance and consistent sound.

The refined internal bracing structure makes the cabinet extremely rigid and works in conjunction with our new integral spike mounting plates to give a clean, tight, powerful bass response whilst harmlessly dissipating any excess vibration.

SA1

The new Spendor SA1 is the most musical and revealing small loudspeaker ever created by Spendor. You will be captivated by its charming sound, surprised by its clarity and definition, assured by performance and engineering of the highest order, and delighted by luxurious modern finishes.

To complement the performance and style of the SA1 we have created an optional matching stand. A rigid, light, non-resonant structure which ensures that spurious energy and vibration can never degrade the sound. Each stand has a front inlay to visually match the material and finish of the SA1 cabinet.

Structurally the SA1 combines the virtues of the ‘Classic’ Spendor thin-wall damped panel design with the considerable benefits of controlled, rigid bracing. The cabinet is constructed using three different panel thicknesses. Each panel is designed to have a specific resonant characteristic and the different natural resonances combine evenly to dissipate any vibration.
