It's taken ages for a serious manufacturer to make a product like this, and thankfully Onkyo have made a stunner! The BR-925 is a luxury MIcro Hifi featuring a 80GB HDD, CD, FM/DAB Radio and USB/Ethernet connectivity! Sound from the HDD (when CDs are ripped in WAV) is better than playing the CD normally(!) and stunningly good when you copy your music via USB/ethernet to the HDD. Record your favourite Radio programmes to listen to at a later date. |

New to the market from Onkyo is this great little starter system for iPod fans, the CS325DAB at £200. The main unit offers a great sounding CD player, FM/DAB radio and quality amplifier. Also supplied are a pair of compact speakers and the DSA-1x ipod dock! A great starter system which will reap further rewards later if you upgrade to full Hifi speakers in the future! |

It felt like a dark cloud was looming when Onkyo announced that they were calling time on the Award Winning CR515DAB micro system, as it was such a benchmark for others at it's price point. However the silver lining brings with it a fantastic successor in the CR525! Unlike most rivals, the new system is made in-house and the results speak for themselves. More musical involvement, slicker operation and a small increase in power equates to a product which can wear a "UK tuned" (normally a nonsense marketing ploy!) with a degree of confidence. As with the previous 515 though, the main unit really thrives when driving more capable speakers. |

From the outside the New CR725DAB looks little different to it's baby brother (you REALLY have to see it in black though!), but internally the 725's design is making a BIG impact technically and musically! Onkyo have taken their class leading VL digital amplifier craft and implemented it stunningly in the 725. When unleashed with truely deserving speakers, it remarkably conveys a level of control, power and scale of presentation that belies the basic fact that it is a micro system!!!
Once again a case of a product being made for music enthusiasts, NOT gadget freaks! |
