At the heart of the 4HD is a massive 2TB hard disk (2 terabytes = 2000 gigabytes), that's enough space to store over 350,000 MP3 music files, over 57,500 high quality FLAC files or over 32,500 uncompressed CD-quality WAV files. Simply connect the 4HD to your amp or receiver and your entire collection will be instantly available.

But how do you get your music onto the 4HD? It's as easy as pie. Simply insert a CD into the slot-loading drive and the 4HD will, using the storage format you specify, copy its contents to its hard disk. From then on it always be available on the media server. Alternatively you can copy files to the 4HD from your computer over your home network. Fancy making your own CDs? No problem, select the tracks on the hard disc, pop in a blank recordable CD, and hey presto, the 4HD will burn your tracks to the disc, for playback on any standard CD player - ideal for burning discs for use in the car.

The 4HD's networking capabilities are very impressive. Connect it to your home network router (either wirelessly or via a wired connection) and you'll be able to stream music from any DLNA or uPnP device, such as computers or NAS hard drives. It also works in reverse, so any computer attached to your network will be able to play files stored on the 4HD via Windows Media Player or iTunes. You can also build up your own multi-room system by adding the separately available Olive 2 Client. But wait, there's more - using your home network's Internet connection, the 4HD can connect to a vast array of Internet Radio stations. You'll never be short of something to listen to with the 4HD.

The Olive 4HD really packs in the features, but don't think that the quality won't be up to hifi separates standard, because the 4HD features a Burr-Brown 24-bit/192kHz DAC for superb music replay. There's even a coaxial digital input, so you can connect devices such as TVs as use the 4HDs high quality DAC to connect to your amp. As well as stereo analogue outputs, there's also both optical and coaxial digital outputs too, so you can choose to use you're receiver's DAC if you prefer. All this is encased in stylish brushed aluminium casework with a snazzy motif design top panel.

Despite its impressive abilities, the 4HD is simple to use thanks to its full colour touch-screen interface. There's also a handy remote control and even an HDMI output, so you can see the 4HD's interface on your TV. The Olive 2 is a stylish, high quality Network Media Player which delivers a fantastically musical performance. Simply connect to a hifi/stereo system or a pair of active speakers and your music collection will be available at your finger tips.

The player streams music files (in WAV, FLAC, AAC or MP3 format) from the superb Olive 4HD Music Server or any DLNA or uPnP device, such as computers, media servers or NAS drives. When used with the 4HD server, up to 10 Olive 2 players can be connected to the server wirelessly, or 20 using a wired connection - a terrific way of building a multi-room music system. The Olive 2 can also connect to a myriad of Internet radio stations, so you'll have a virtually unlimited amount of entertainment.

Controlling the Olive 2 is a joy thanks to its 4.3" high resolution, full colour touch-screen. Flick through your albums with ease and tap to play. There's also a remote control for sofa/bed listening and there's also a freely available remote control app for the iPhone/iPod Touch.
